New iPhone
[Currently listening to Repeater by Fugazi]

I've now finally received my new iPhone. I say finally, because of a mixture of bad customer service and the fact that when I first received it, a good third of the touch screen didn't work, requiring me to send it in for a replacement. Regardless of the hassle of the past three weeks or so, I've found it to be nothing less then an amazing piece of technology. With all the free (or paid) applications available for it, you can seriously turn it into one of the most useful things around.

Anyway, as you can see in the sidebar of this blog, I've added a 'Sydney tour highlights' section under the current recommendations. Over time I'll be adding tours that are worth mentioning or sound interesting and exciting. The first band in that list is Pivot, who I saw last night supporting Sigur Rós (who were absolutely amazing, by the way). Pivot have recently signed to Warp Records (the first Australian band to ever do so) for their second album, O Soundtrack My Heart, which is getting released later this month. Pivot's set made me understand why they got picked up by Warp, as they come accross as a band that sits between Battle's math rock and experimentation, and the more indie-rock aesthetic of bands like Grizzly Bear and people like James Lidell. Definitely a band to keep your eye on, so check them out if you're in the area.
In other news, I'm working on some smaller-scale student work at the moment, and I'll post up some pictures and videos of it in the next month or so. I'm still looking for a location to install Rainbows 3, but I think I've found what seems to be a suitable spot. I'll try to get that done within the next month as well. 'Excellent Examples of New(ish) Music Part 2' should be up within the next week or so as well (depending on how much time I have free).
